SHASTRA VISMAYA VER2.0
Shastra Vismaya, a unique initiative of 2015 by IEEE Kerala Section and Dept. of Social Welfare, Govt. of Kerala was usually targeting Nirbhaya Homes where socially backward girl children resided. For the first time, the event was conducted at Boys Shelter Home, Trivandrum. Children were given an insight into the communication system and were introduced to Morse Code which they used to communicate with each other.
They were then given the basics of energy, its importance and how to harness it. Participants were made to construct wind mills and produce electricity from it. The models were tested with the help of a table fan. Boys were very excited and the level of enthusiasm showcased by them created a positive vibe. The program is planned to be extended to other shelter homes as well. The event was held on 20th November.
YOUNG PROFESSIONALS TRACK – MALABAR HUB WIE CONGRESS
Young Professionals track during the IEEE Malabar Hub WIE Congress held on 11th August which included sessions on “Women In Engineering” by Ms. Sathi K.; “Cyber Security” by Mr. Ashwin R. and “Who Are You?” by Mr. Jishnu K.
KERALA YOUNG PROFESSIONALS MEETUP
Kerala Young Professionals held a monsoon meetup on the 24th of July at Kumarakom. One-day program included visit to Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary followed by interaction with senior members of Kerala Young Professionals. MeetUp was the first of its kind being organized for the members. Active participation from volunteers made the event very interactive and joyful. Further programs for the year were discussed and experiences were shared.
STEP 2016 VER2.0
2016 Ver2.0 of Student Transition and Elevation Partnership (STEP) Program was conducted on 25th of June at MES College of Engineering, Kuttippuram. Programs included were listed below.

TALK ON PERSONAL TAXATION
A talk was organized for the corporate professionals at Technopark, Trivandrum on the topic “Personal Taxation”. The event took place at Malabar Hall, Technopark, trivandrum and was attended by IT professionals from various industries. The programme is an initiative of IEEE Kerala Young Professionals to promote Industry Relations with and work for professional development. It was held on 22nd June.
TALK FOR PROFESSIONALS
A talk was arranged for the professionals on the topic “The Benefits of PMI/PMP Certification in the Corporate Sector” at Technopark, Trivandrum, in association with PMI Kerala. It was held on 11th May.
WORKSHOP ON RASPBERRY PI PRIMER
A technical workshop was conducted for the students, faculties and professionals on 23rd and 24th of April at NIELIT, Calicut. The sessions included workshop on Raspberry Pi, Basic Linux and Python Essentials. The programme was conducted in association with ICFOSS and IEEE Malabar Subsection.
TALK ON MANAGEMENT STUDIES
Talk on Management Studies was conducted at NIT Calicut on 19th April at Calicut. The talk was organized by the Industrial Application Society of IEEE NIT Calicut chapter in association with IEEE Malabar Subsection and IEEE Kerala Section Young Professionals. The talk was conducted by Mr. Sreevas Sahasranamam, a doctoral student in Strategic Management at IIM Kozhikode. Admission criteria and various aspects of management studies were covered.
STEP PROGRAM
Aim of the program was to help the graduating members and the recent graduates to step into Young Professionals. The benefits of being a Young Professional was shared and the program also included an open forum which helped students interact with the Young Professionals of Kerala. It was held on 21st Feb at Kochi.
EXECOM MEETING
Meeting was conducted to discuss about about revamping IEEE Kerala Young Professionals website. The meeting took place at Trivandrum on 10th April.
WORKING GROUP MEETING
Entrepreneurship Working group meeting was held on March 19th at Trivandrum to plan the activities of Industry & Entrepreneurship Working Group. First activity was planned for April.
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 2016
Annual General Body Meeting of Kerala Young Professionals was conducted on the 9th of January 2016 at Hotel Capitol, Trivandrum.
